Council governs the affairs and business of the association. The Council of APGO is comprised of 20 people including five members of the public, who are not professional geoscientists.

Council consists of:

President
Vice-President
Past President
Two (2) members appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council
One (1) non-member appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council
Four (4) non-member appointees
Five (5) elected members - one (1) member is elected from each of the regions
Four (4) elected members - elected from the membership at large
Chair of the Council of University Departments of Geoscience of Ontario (CUDGO) or a designate who is a member of CUDGO

There are five regions: northwestern, northeastern, southwestern, central and southeastern which are defined by postal codes (forward sortation numbers). Click on each link to view a map of each region and the postal codes included in that region.

Elections are held before the Annual General Meeting which is normally held in mid May. The election schedule will be posted on the website as soon as it has been approved by Council and a copy of the 2006 Council nomination form will be available for download here later this year.
