Note from the Editor

Welcome to the inaugural edition of Field Notes, which will be distributed via e-mail. Field Notes was presented to Council by the Communications Committee and was unanimously endorsed as the Associations members newsletter. Council has directed that Field Notes come out no less frequently than quarterly, but the Communications Committee will endeavor to bring it out on a much more frequent basis.

Through this web-based newsletter members will be kept abreast of ongoing work of the APGO and issues relevant to our profession. In addition to articles by our members, each issue will include the President's Perspective; Deliberations, our Members Discussion Forum; the Need a Geo? Need a Job? Employment Exchange; Members in the News in Headliners; articles in other newsletters From Far Afield; an Events Calendar; and News from the Registrar. Starting next month Field Notes will begin a new series profiling your Councillors.

This newsletter is the voice of our membership and as such we encourage your ideas and comments in the form of Letters to the Editor and suggestions for stories you would like to see published. If you are interested in submitting an article for publication please contact Oliver Bonham at the APGO.
