Headliner: Kristin E. Hanson, P.Geo., Newly Appointed Councillor at Large

Kristin E. Hanson, P.Geo., Councillor at Large

Kristin Hanson has a B.Sc. in Environmental Geology, an M.Sc. in Hydrogeology, and 15 years' experience in the field of contaminated site investigation and remediation serving private and public sector clients in both the U.S. and Canada. As Office Manager and Senior Hydrogeologist with Aqua Terre Solutions Inc, Ms Hanson directs and manages all aspects of Toronto operations. She provides technical guidance and manages the environmental portfolio for one of Aqua Terre’s major clients.

Kristin lives in Mississauga, enjoys fitness and outdoor activities and is an active community volunteer with agencies such as the Peel Branch of the Ontario SPCA.

As a member of Council, Ms Hanson will strive to raise the APGO profile through public education initiatives. Working to raise the APGO profile will encourage:

  • Geoscientists to register and to use appropriate professional practice guidelines when providing geoscience services;
  • Bright, young people to join the profession to help serve the growing demand for qualified practitioners; and
  • The public to insist that projects which impact public health and safety must have geoscience aspects addressed by a registered professional.

Raising our profile, enforcing the requirements to register and implementing professional practice guidelines will help ensure that our Association continues to gain professional respect, remains on stable financial ground and becomes even stronger in the future.
