Mining Industry Human Resources Study

Those members of the APGO from the mining sector as well as all Geoscientists in Ontario may be interested in the huge projected short fall of trained mining workers in the mining industry. A recent study by the Mining Industry Training and Adjustment Council-Canada (MITAC) has projected as many as 81,000 mining sector employees are needed to meet current and future needs. Fewer young people entering mining careers and the retirement of up to 40% of the experienced work force in the next 10 years, result in this projected shortfall.
