this page APGO's Continuing Professional Development Program Became Mandatory at the Beginning of the Year: CPD Declaration Forms Submission Deadline Extended APGO's Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program [visit http://www.apgo.net/cpd/cpd.html] was developed in 2004. It was established to gain the confidence and trust of the Ontario public in APGO as a regulator for the practice of professional geoscience.APGO's CPD program aims to demonstrate that APGO's licensed members and certificate of authorization holders are committed to the highest standards of technical competence, professionalism and dedication in ensuring that the public welfare and the natural environment are safeguarded, where the practice of geoscience is concerned. APGO's CPD initiative was launched at the end of 2004 as a voluntary program. December 31, 2005 marked the end of APGO's yearlong voluntary CPD program that became mandatory on January 1, 2006 for all of its full and limited professional geoscientists. The deadline for those licensed members, wishing to indicate their participation in the 2005 voluntary program, by submitting their declaration form, was June 30, 2006. Although this date was established a while ago, based on feedback received from members, it seems the information was not communicated as well as it might have. In addition, a number of members reported having difficulties in completing and sending in their form. It is not APGO's intention to make any aspect of this program onerous for its licensees. Therefore, it has been decided to give those licensed members who have not done so an opportunity to participate in the voluntary program. They now have until 4:00 p.m., Wednesday 30, August, 2006 to submit their 2005 declaration form. Upon the receipt of licensed members' declaration forms by the Registrar's Office, they will be recorded as participants of the 2005 voluntary program. Only those licensed members whose participation in the 2005 voluntary CPD program is recorded will be eligible to carry over excess CPD Hours into 2006. |
