Proposed Amendment of Record of Site Condition Regulation by MOE

The Ontario Ministry of the Environment (MOE) has proposed to amend the Record of Site Condition regulation (O. Reg. 153/04) to extend the sunset provision for 18 months (http://www.ene.gov.on.ca/envregistry/028094er.htm).

Bill Stiebel, Chair of APGO's Professional Practice Committee and Norm Williams, the Executive Director & Registrar of APGO, met with officials of the MOE at their offices on July 19, 2006. The meeting was requested by MOE to discuss the proposal and the Qualified Persons (QPs) in the Brownfields Program. At this meeting certification protocols and jurisdiction respecting QPs in the performance of Phase I & Phase II ESAs and Risk Assessments were also discussed. The MOE's representatives agreed to meet again with APGO for further discussion on the topic.
