Professional Access and Integration Enhancement Program (PAIE)

By Andrea Waldie
APGO Executive Director & Registrar

APGO partnered with the Professional Access and Integration Enhancement (PAIE) program during 2006 and 2007. This program provides assistance to the internationally trained scientists seeking professional licensure in Ontario and operates under the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA). APGO was involved in interviewing potential students, program development, course delivery and job placement. PAIE students undergo 3 months of classroom training followed by a 9-month job placement that helps them to attain the 12 months of Canadian or Canadian-equivalent work experience required for licensure.

The PAIE Program participants completed the 3-months of workshops in March 2007 and are currently completing their 9-month work placement with the following host organizations:

    . Aqua Tech Dewatering Company,
    . Aqua Terre Solutions,
    . Beatty & Associates,
    . Citizens' Environment Watch,
    . Conestoga-Rovers & Associates,
    . Dillon Consulting Ltd.,
    . Earth Tech,
    . Gartner Lee Ltd.,
    . G.E.M.S.,
    . Geo-Canada Ltd.,
    . High River Goldmines,
    . ICLEI,
    . Region of Peel,
    . R. J. Burnside and Associates,
    . STORM Coalition, and,
. Toronto and Region Conservation Authority.
The response from host organizations has been outstanding and the organizers of the PAIE program at TRCA wish to express their appreciation for the many hours devoted to this program. Unfortunately, there are two individuals with extensive mineral exploration experience that are without work for the 9-month job placement portion of the program. If your mineral exploration company is interested in viewing the resumes of these two individuals, please contact Khoa Ly at kly@trca.ca or Andrea Waldie, Executive Director and Registrar, APGO at awaldie@apgo.net.

APGO has been honoured to work with the dedicated staff of the PAIE program and with the enthusiastic students. If you have any questions or would like more information about the PAIE Program please email Khoa Ly at kly@trca.on.ca.
