APGO Highlights CIM'S 2014 Best Geological Paper

APGO is very pleased to have been granted permission by The Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) to share with its members the geological paper entitled “Structure, Stratigraphy, U-Pb Geochronology and Alteration Characteristics of Gold Mineralization at the Detour Lake Gold Deposit, Ontario, Canada”. This paper is a result of a collaborative work of geoscience professionals who have spent many years of their careers in the exploration industry. The paper, published in 2012, was awarded the 2014 Barlow Medal for the Best Geological Paper at CIM’s 2014 Convention in May in Vancouver. APGO congratulates all the authors for being recognized for their work -James Oliver (lead author), John Ayer, Benoit Dubé, Roger Aubertin, Mike Burson, Gerald Panneton, Richard Friedman, and Mike Hamilton. Lead author, James Oliver quotes, "The significance of receiving the Barlow Medal lies in the fact, that in this case the medal recognized that strongly field based geological studies will continue to make significant contributions to Canadian geoscience. It may also help to encourage the many skilled geoscientists who work within mineral exploration to make the time to forward their geological studies, which are often of very high quality, into the public domain."
